Sonic Origins

SEGA tries to create decent games that appeal to the user. However, this often fails to produce the desired results, but it is not without exceptions such as Sonic Media. The company is busy re-releasing classic platforms so that everyone can enjoy the gameplay. And here the effort pays off, as the games do indeed turn out to be more interesting and better.

4 в 1

This compilation includes 4 Sonic titles at once. You can determine the appropriate story mode on the opening screen, where the platforms are stitched together, but you can also run them separately.

Any of the options has 2 modes:

  1. Jubilee.
  2. Classic.

The first option is more interesting, primarily because there is support for widescreen. Also, there is simply no life, so if a character dies, he is simply resurrected in almost the same place. And if you can’t get what you want during the bonus game, you can buy another try.

The classic game mode doesn’t allow you to do that.

Additional innovations

As for other innovations, they mostly affect gameplay. For example, a drop dash – a twisting jerk after a jump – is available in each case. Before landing the character gets an acceleration, so that you do not have to pause. In addition there are other characters to choose from.

Without permission, the platform simply does not change in appearance. You can only mention the individual animations at the beginning and end. And there are no visual filters, you can only enable anti-aliasing.

On the downside, there are a small number of options that are present in the classic games.  There are no save slots, and progress will be completed after each level, each game has its own save.

More options

Things are a little better with bonuses, for example, there’s a Blue Spheres mode with new levels and exclusive stages. And every game has a boss battle.

Well, the developer has put the most effort into the mission mode, which should rightly be called new content for fans of the older versions. Either way, there are a few dozen challenges each, with conditions varying greatly.

There’s also the Museum. On completing almost every action in Anniversary Mode, the player receives coins that can be spent on locked bonuses.

This re-release turned out to be far from the worst. But greed ruined the company; the cost of the compilation is quite high, costing as much as $40 per platform, which was given away numerous times. And to get the Deluxe edition, you have to pay another $5 extra.
